  • Politics Is Like Hiring A Hitman
    by Scott Woods inPolitical on2020-08-13

For me, politics is like hiring a hitman. I have values and things I care about. I care enough about them to at least bother voting for 5 minutes every year for one issue or another. And because I care at least that much, I vote for people who align with the ability to realize the things I care about.

I believe our vote is the punctuation of our voice. Without that resounding exclamation mark, I believe our voices are just incoherent noise.

Recent events have raised the profile of historical injustice and inequities here in the USA. The entire world has taken note of the fact that BLACK LIVES MATTER.   We invite all of our friends to engage in actions that result in the greatest movement for change in our history. It is imperative that we take advantage of this opportunity to affect a positive change by ACTING IN OUR SELF-INTERESTS.

  • Living in a Black No-Man's Land
by Roger Madison Jr. inOur Community on2019-10-28

There are many narratives that define the Black experience in America in this 2nd decade of the 21st century. Our striving over the centuries of our sojourn in this nation is a tapestry of every human experience -- oppression, enslavement, forced assimilation, dehumanization, exclusion, segregation, isolation, struggle, perseverance, achievement, excellence, celebration, mourning, despair, progress, setbacks, lynching, assassination, genocide, terror, self-hatred, low esteem, pride,...

  • Fighting Racism
by Scott Woods inOur Community on2018-10-25

I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. She frequently couldn’t keep my name out her mouth. Lot of gaslighting. You know…2018 style. I tried a lot of ways to combat or navigate her issues. None of them worked, and that’s saying a lot because I’m really good at fighting racism. But at the end of the day – every day – she was my boss, I had to deal with her, and that was that. Finally I...

Internet Businesses In A Box

As they say, “when a person with money meets a person with experience, the person with experience ends up with the money and the person with money ends up with an experience!” The Internet business in a Box is one of the marketing techniques that is no different and I wish to advise against it before it strikes any of my friends. I don’t like Businesses in a box and I do not like what they are doing to people’s hope of starting a safe successful home business over the Internet.

How do innocent people get hooked into Business in a Box Schemes?  Here is how it works, you sign up for a free trial offer that last seven to ten days.  Then after that, you notice it clearly states in the fine print that if you do not cancel out, you will be charged a certain amount.  You did not cancel out of the program in time, therefore are charged $40.00.  But you can live with that-charge it up to getting experience-.   But nowhere did you see that there would be monthly recurring charges. You just check your credit card statement again and there is yet another charge of $40.00. There was a phone number provided on your credit card statement for the company, but when you call it, a voice comes on and says the number is not in service. You send an e-mail off and registered with the company’s support service to send a message to them as well, but get nothing back from anybody. You try to have the charges reversed at your bank to no avail.  You review the Business in a Box Company’s website again, and see if you need to sign out of something in order to not have the recurring charges, then you don't know where it is. You see no option to sign out of anything.  This is the type of experience one can get from trying Internet Businesses in a Box, which I want to warn you against before you get involved.  In my opinion, 90% of information and products offered to help you make money in an Internet business is junk.

A final conclusion:

“First. There is no way for the average person to "get rich" near term.

Second...If you were not a good student in school, you will have a hard time learning how to make money on the Internet, because it's a matter of study, study and more study.

There are millions of words to read, comprehend and remember before you can begin to get to where you dream of going. Plus several hundreds of dollars, minimum, even if you knew exactly who to deal with….”

Hoping that I can save some of you from this bad experience.
