    I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. Cop cleared in the killing of Tarika Wilson

Sgt Joseph Chavalia has been found innocent on charges of negligent homicide and negligent assault in the death of an innocent woman, Tarika Wilson. She and a child were shot during a raid in which police were looking for her boyfriend . She may have made a bad choice in a boyfriend but she didn't deserve to die.

You hate to say race played a factor in the jury's decision but an all white jury found the officer innocent despite the facts:

* That the raid should not have been conducted with children in the house

* There was no immediate threat of danger to anyone until the cops bust into the house.

* The police could have waited to the suspect was alone or until he left the house.

* Did I mention there were children in the house?
