  • Politics Is Like Hiring A Hitman
    by Scott Woods inPolitical on2020-08-13

For me, politics is like hiring a hitman. I have values and things I care about. I care enough about them to at least bother voting for 5 minutes every year for one issue or another. And because I care at least that much, I vote for people who align with the ability to realize the things I care about.

I believe our vote is the punctuation of our voice. Without that resounding exclamation mark, I believe our voices are just incoherent noise.

Recent events have raised the profile of historical injustice and inequities here in the USA. The entire world has taken note of the fact that BLACK LIVES MATTER.   We invite all of our friends to engage in actions that result in the greatest movement for change in our history. It is imperative that we take advantage of this opportunity to affect a positive change by ACTING IN OUR SELF-INTERESTS.

  • Living in a Black No-Man's Land
by Roger Madison Jr. inOur Community on2019-10-28

There are many narratives that define the Black experience in America in this 2nd decade of the 21st century. Our striving over the centuries of our sojourn in this nation is a tapestry of every human experience -- oppression, enslavement, forced assimilation, dehumanization, exclusion, segregation, isolation, struggle, perseverance, achievement, excellence, celebration, mourning, despair, progress, setbacks, lynching, assassination, genocide, terror, self-hatred, low esteem, pride,...

  • Fighting Racism
by Scott Woods inOur Community on2018-10-25

I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. She frequently couldn’t keep my name out her mouth. Lot of gaslighting. You know…2018 style. I tried a lot of ways to combat or navigate her issues. None of them worked, and that’s saying a lot because I’m really good at fighting racism. But at the end of the day – every day – she was my boss, I had to deal with her, and that was that. Finally I...

Trade Show Giveaways

Are you ready for that upcoming trade show? You paid all your fees for a booth. You ordered a giant vinyl banner. You have created a great 30 second presentation speech regarding your product or service. Now there is one more thing to do. What is it? Ordering your trade show giveaways.

How many times have you done a trade show and ordered the same promotional item giveaways? The items I’m referring to are: pens, magnets, mouse pads, buttons, sports bottles, can koozies, key chains, etc. If you have been ordering the same inexpensive items like every other booth owner, then it’s time for an upgrade. It is time to order promotional product giveaways that will make potential customers remember your company.

Order better quality items that a potential customer can use everyday. Instead of giving away a pen, why not give away a flash drive. Instead of giving away a plastic bag, try giving away a canvass bag. Instead of giving away a sports bottle, give away a stainless steel coffee mug. Instead of giving away a calculator, give away a portfolio with a calculator in it. Each and every one of these items can be imprinted with your company logo or message.

I know your are thinking the above products sound expensive. Yes they may cost a little more. One thing you could do is give away your better quality items only to potential customers who seem truly interested in working with your company. If they take the time to listen to your presentation and agree to a follow call or meeting. Then show them that you appreciated their time by giving them a special gift.

Giving a potential customer a better quality promotional item will create a different prospective of your company in their mind. This will also insure top-of-mind response when you follow up.

Think about it, the entire reason you paid for a booth in the first place is to gain new customers. Don’t let a potential customer walk away without a quality promotional item to remember you by.
