  • Politics Is Like Hiring A Hitman
    by Scott Woods inPolitical on2020-08-13

For me, politics is like hiring a hitman. I have values and things I care about. I care enough about them to at least bother voting for 5 minutes every year for one issue or another. And because I care at least that much, I vote for people who align with the ability to realize the things I care about.

I believe our vote is the punctuation of our voice. Without that resounding exclamation mark, I believe our voices are just incoherent noise.

  • Living in a Black No-Man's Land
by Roger Madison Jr. inOur Community on2019-10-28

There are many narratives that define the Black experience in America in this 2nd decade of the 21st century. Our striving over the centuries of our sojourn in this nation is a tapestry of every human experience -- oppression, enslavement, forced assimilation, dehumanization, exclusion, segregation, isolation, struggle, perseverance, achievement, excellence, celebration, mourning, despair, progress, setbacks, lynching, assassination, genocide, terror, self-hatred, low esteem, pride,...

  • Fighting Racism
by Scott Woods inOur Community on2018-10-25

I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. She frequently couldn’t keep my name out her mouth. Lot of gaslighting. You know…2018 style. I tried a lot of ways to combat or navigate her issues. None of them worked, and that’s saying a lot because I’m really good at fighting racism. But at the end of the day – every day – she was my boss, I had to deal with her, and that was that. Finally I...

Work with Each Other

I have always come in to give you a piece of advice that will work for you. Whether this is in your personal life of in your businesses, I share information that will work.

NOW, if you use it to your advantage, that's great, if you don't, that's not so great.

I want to touch base with you about living your life effectively, efficiently, and economically correct by working with each other. Well who is is each other you ask? Your fellow business owner that is African American. We need to get our "black" dollars circulating in our communities.  We need to get our communities back on the right track even though the economy is taking a turn for the worst.

Work hard so you can present yourself to God and recieve his approval. Be a good work, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15

If you are working for to build God's kingdom, you are essentially working hard for others to help them.  Walking in your spirituality, work with your people to build them up; teach them that THE way is the only way to make it.

We are all in various businesses offering products and services that are essential to our lives.

We are a people that have said we have hell on earth, we should get the first train ticket to heaven..but we are also the same people that cause the hell on earth with EACH OTHER.

(this blog is taking a different turn)

I want you to know that I am not an expert in spirituality or being in right standing with God, I am only the one that knows it's hard to be blessed if you are not at first a blessing. (amen)

I am one that knows my current thats and actions will hurt all that are around me; my children, my husband, my immediate family. In order to walk the walk, I have to talk the talk.

In today's proverb, (Proverbs 7) verses 4 and 5 it says: Love wisdom like a sister; make insight a beloved member of your family. Let them protect you from an affir with an immoral woman, from listening to the flattery of a promiscuous woman.

Your eternal life is important; how you live life on earth. As you start to help the people in your house, you can help the people in your African American communities and then the world as a whole.

Are you ready for that responsiblity? Are you ready to increase the kingdom..do business as if you are working for the Lord? All of what you do should be a light...allowing people to see God in you.

(in part two of this blog, I will share business links that will help you to work with others)
