Gone are the days of Martin Luther King, Malcom X,  Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass...but are they? Aren't their hopes and dreams dormant living in us yearning to come out. We live in a world replete with self-interest slogans-"Army of One", "My Life", "WWE", etc.  Instead of calling and behaving as brothers and sisters, we call can behave as "dogs" and "hoes". Something is terribly wrong with this image. Yes, rap should address the issues facing the youth today, but they have a responsibility of educating and uplifting, not just entertaining and exploiting. White kids should be able to look a black kid and know that a black man invented blood banking, traffic light, air conditioning, the first open heart surgery.

I visited South Africa this year. Despite all its problems in the economy, HIV rate, and crime...the majority of black people in S. Africa are proud and humble, yet yearn and try to do better. Even beggers a grateful, truely grateful. Its time that we embrace each other and uplift , know one will do it for us. We can acknowledge our successes and mistakes, have discussions, thrive to truly love and respect one another. Please help me to help each other.............
