A Sculptor's Passion

He has been dubbed 'The Rennaissance Man' for over a quarter of a century by his native countrymen and admirers in England. However, since the first of his many visits and guest appearances at red carpet events in the U.S., Donald Brown has and continues to take America by storm with his amazing limited edition works of art that are true Twenty-First Century masterpieces. By the age of 14, Donald drew national television and media attention for his sculptures.

However, his first university degree application was rejected on the grounds that there was no one at the university capable of teaching him anything new where his technique and ability was concerned. His second application was successful as he opted to study the history of art the following year and Brown later graduated with a BA Honors Degree in Fine Art Sculpture in 1988 from Wolverhampton University in England.

What makes Donald so unique is that he is self taught and even from the tender age of ten he chose to ignore those who discouraged him from making, what they viewed as, an unwise career choice. He however, pursued his dream of becoming a sculptor. Now the international demand for his works have excelled even his expectations.

1) Dr. Maya Angelou "Donald Brown is impressive. His approach to material and his respect for material combine to make his art quite wonderful."

2) Congressman John "Everytme I see your sculptures I am very impressed. Lewis I've got my eye on the Genius sculpture, it's a great masterpiece."

3) Smokey Robinson "Your work is incredible."

4) Lerone Bennett "The Bennetts will always be indebted to you for your vision and touch."

5) Terrie Williams "Art work that is soul stirring and mind provoking."

6) Bryant Gumbell "It's great work."

7) Deloris Jordan "A God blessed talent."

8) John Buck O'Neil "Donald Brown and his work are, in one word...Amazing!"

9) John Amos "I regard Donald Brown as a true Rennaissance Man. With his talents and literally in every area of the art world, Donald Brown is destined to become recognized on a global basis."

10) Jackie Joyner Kersee "I have never seen anything quite like this. It's beautiful."

11) Marla Gibbs "Hands blessed by the angels."

12) Essence Magazine "Powerful."

13) Winston Salem "The premier sculptor of modern day times."

Chronicle Recipients of his works, courtesy of The Ted Turner Trumpet Awards (98 & 99) include General Colin Powell, Whitney Houston, Gladys Knight, Kenneth 'Babyface' Edmonds, Coach Eddie Robinson, Jackie Joyner Kersee, John 'Buck' O'Neil, Smokey Robinson, Jessye Norman, Deloris Jordan (mother of Michael Jordan), Barbara Sinatra, Bryant Gumbel, Kweisi Mfume and Debbie Allen.

Establishments such as Morehouse College, The Nigerian Embassy in Washington D.C., The NAACP and the ANC in South Africa own a Donald Brown. Many owners expressed the profound effect that his works and the symbolisms behind his sculptures continue to have on them.

Donald Brown has and continues to take the art of sculpture to a whole new level and is without doubt one of (if not) the hottest rising sculptor on the planet
