  • Politics Is Like Hiring A Hitman
    by Scott Woods inPolitical on2020-08-13

For me, politics is like hiring a hitman. I have values and things I care about. I care enough about them to at least bother voting for 5 minutes every year for one issue or another. And because I care at least that much, I vote for people who align with the ability to realize the things I care about.

I believe our vote is the punctuation of our voice. Without that resounding exclamation mark, I believe our voices are just incoherent noise.

  • Living in a Black No-Man's Land
by Roger Madison Jr. inOur Community on2019-10-28

There are many narratives that define the Black experience in America in this 2nd decade of the 21st century. Our striving over the centuries of our sojourn in this nation is a tapestry of every human experience -- oppression, enslavement, forced assimilation, dehumanization, exclusion, segregation, isolation, struggle, perseverance, achievement, excellence, celebration, mourning, despair, progress, setbacks, lynching, assassination, genocide, terror, self-hatred, low esteem, pride,...

  • Fighting Racism
by Scott Woods inOur Community on2018-10-25

I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. She frequently couldn’t keep my name out her mouth. Lot of gaslighting. You know…2018 style. I tried a lot of ways to combat or navigate her issues. None of them worked, and that’s saying a lot because I’m really good at fighting racism. But at the end of the day – every day – she was my boss, I had to deal with her, and that was that. Finally I...

GREAT IS HE THAT POPS THE WHIP - GREATEST IS HE THAT TAKES THE BEATING.

It is my end-less contention that whether win, place or show always bet on black that we have a winner! All bets are down and the winner is 44 black!

It is my other contention that readers, writers and producers are the leaders of the 21st century that I would like to introduce to you my friend and yours the reader, writer and published author from Chicago and the 44Th president of the United States Barack Obama!

Presidential elect Obama is the 1st black man reader turned leader ever to usher in and lead the 21st century revolution of evolution. There is evidence that strongly suggest Obamas election has been approved and appointed by the most high.

Under the instruction of divine intervention 48hours before Obama's is duly elected Chicago turns back time one hour. Time goes backwards one hour to the hour of black power.

48hours later the outdoor temperature along Chicago's chilly fall lakefront reaches 73 degrees on a normally cool day. Upon Obama's divine appointment and victory white people in the north wave American flags as black people fall to their knees, with out stretched arms and hands crying out Thank you Jesus, Glory to God.

November 9th, 2008 Chicago Time
Four days after his election and two months from inauguration president elect Obama is on the move. Obama's homeland of Africa is also on the move. Africa and Chicago waste no time staking their claim to Obama.

Allys from around the globe are also jocking for positions and favoritism with the 1st black president of the United States. Young generation X students from college universities around the globe are intensifying their concentration of learning and taking their education more seriously as they harbor great expectations of global participation and inclusion in the marketing equation of the 21st century.

Every where on the Planet Earth people hear freedom ring, everywhere except in the red states.

As the world celebrates African Americans in the red states are issued e-mail alerts and warning about how not to exhibit celebration that might upset their white oppressors.

Compare the two messages sent below. The first message is sent by Africans to Africans and the second message is sent by African Americans to African Americans.

The following message is sent to Africans by Africans:

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee, across the plains of Texas, from Detroit, down to Houston and New York to Los Angeles, there is pride in every Kenyan residing in the USA. Barack Obama's victory over his Republican rival John McCain to become the 44th president of the US sparked off wild celebrations among Kenyans in the US.

. "As Kenyans we believe that with this win by our son, (America) will implement Africa-friendly policies that could lift not just the continent, but our nation from poverty," Today is a Kenyan public holiday in honor of President-elect Barack Obama. Kisumu city is quiet; Most shops have closed to observe the holiday."

You will recall that Kenya is a populous black nation. So we see it as a personal victory, Sen Obama's ascendancy was the best thing that has happened to Kenya in the century, adding that: "I am sure he will work to change the American policy toward Africa."

The following message was sent by African Americans to other African Americans.

To keep the peace and keep a lot of folks from getting nervous, I think we should develop a list of acceptable celebrations and behaviors we should probably avoid - at least for the first few days:

1. No crying, hugging or shouting "Thank you Lord" - at least not in public

2. No high-fives - at least not unless the area is clear and there are no witnesses

5. We're allowed to give each other knowing winks or nods in passing. Just try to keep from grinning too hard.

6. No singing loudly, We've come this Far By Faith (it will be acceptable to hum softly)

4 No calling in sick on November 5th. They'll get nervous if too many of us don't show up. (Try to be on time and not your normal late arrival)

10. Please no Moving on Up music (we are going to try to remain humble)

The messages sent by African Americans to other African Americans is totally different than those sent by Africans to other Africans because African Americans in the year 2008 in the red states are afraid to celebrate life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness because the red states takes great pride in knowing and announcing to the north that they know how to keep the negro in his place.

Fear of freedom self imposes mental and physical slavery upon the African Americans and weighs on their spirit and courage to be free. Fear of "a lot of folks getting nervous " has African Americans virtually locked down in the year 2008.

Fear of "a lot of folks getting nervous" has African Americans in lock down in a free land with a popular black president.

To put it in perspective consider this.
Iowa with 92% whites and 2% African Americans went to Obama. Indiana historically known for lynching African Americans long after the south stopped, went to Obama.

In Chicago over one hundred thousand people gather from ever conceivable group, race and agenda to welcome a black president without one act of violence or civil disorder.

IN THE SOUTH
Over 50% of the African American population reside in the red states. Louisiana has the 2nd largest black population and yet Louisiana fell to McCain. Every southern state known for its oppression, dislike and disdain for black advancement and where the majority of blacks reside went for Mccain with the exception of Florida.

Let's compare the strong historical similarities between what happened after the civil war and what's happening in the south now. Historically soon after the south lost the civil war negro carpetbaggers emerged.

Carpet baggers were African Americans that began exercising their freedom by capitalizing on the defeat of the south. The southern negro carpetbagger began to thrive as salesmen, politicians and educaters but as soon as the north took their attention away from the south, the south corralled and defeated the inspiring negros by enacting Jim Crow laws, that restricted the negroes movements, involvement's, participation and exuberance.

In the year 2008 African Americans in the red states are proud to have a black face that look like theirs in the white house but Obama can't relate to the African American mindset of slavery because Obama did not come up as a descendent of slaves.

African Americans classified or referred to as decendents of slaves must escape from their self imposed slave mindset to get with Obama and the 21st century.

Stop classifying your self as a decendent of slaves. Move away from the classification of African American. Stop naming your children after slave masters. A black man from Africa by way of Chicago is now president and now is your turn to seize freedom.

It shall be a shame before God and a stench in the nose of your ancestors for African Americans to have a black president and yet continue to look to the white master for a job, freedom and for what you can acheive on your own.

You can reside right where you are and be free. You are a black African kidnapped from your homeland many centuries ago. You now have a chance to make it right.

Many African Americans from the south became very emotional when they spoke about how their ancestors such as Harriet Tubman would perceive this day. African Americans speak about how Obama's election has fulfilled Martin luthers kings dream.

I am most certain that the very same and identical ancestor you cry in remembrance of would want you to be free if you had the opportunity of chance.

In remembering Harriet Tubman least you not forget that when given the opportunity to be free Harriets husband refused to be free out of fear. Take this opportunity to be free and don't be afraid of your own life.

Harriet Tubman escaped to freedom through bullets, blood hounds, insects, depravation assaults, murder and persecution.. She may have not lived to see Obama as president but she chose death before dishonor and she died with dignity and honor. Harriet Tubman is remembered to this day with respect. How will you be remembered?

Unlike Harriet Tubman you don't have to flee the state you reside in, dodge bullets, slave catchers or crawl along ditches to be free. To be free today all you need to do is pick up a book and read it because the escape route is in the book. You can read yourself free.

You have the chance to be free by reading the same book Obama has read, Undercover Smart. Join the African revolution of evolution. Join the home team. Get behind Obama because that's where the 21st century is.

In a politically reenacted war between the north and the south Obama defeats McCain in 2008 and once again the south loses. The victory by the blue states over the red states represents your opportunity Mr and Mrs African American to be free. Exercise your black mind by escaping through reading to actual know freedom in real time.

The plan, strategy and escape route to freedom can be found word for word in a book titled, Undercover Smart. If you truly and sincerely want to be free don't let a book be the last place you look for the escape plan and route to freedom.

What honor do African Americans bestow upon the struggles of their ancestors when in the year 2008 you have a chance to be free but decline to accomplish it if being free means having to read a book. If you can't read have someone read the book to you. If you don't like to read, make an exception for your freedom.

When you compare Harriet Tubman being chased down by gun carrying negro hating slave catchers with fear sniffing negro-catching blood hounds to you simply having to read a book to be free and yet you remain a slave during the most exciting time in history to be alive what does that say about you, your courage and commitment to be free?

As the 21st century marches forth African Americans in the red states stand waving and cheering as Obama and the 21st century march past. You are not celebrating having a black president in as much as waving from the plantation wishing us well as the 21st century marches right past you.

In the red states you have the legal right to read and a chance to be free. Turn the red states of oppression into the red states of freedom. Read Undercover Smart and escape to a better way of life.

Obama inauguration theme in January 2009 is "The rebirth of freedom." This is your chance to be free. Get on the front line of your blessings. Read Undercover Smart because the escape route to freedom and a better life for you and yours is in the book.

I was born in the north so the taste of the master's whip of oppression upon my freedom is something I have never known but I do know the beauty, glory and struggle of African Americans.

I know that you deserve to be free. I know that great is he that pops the whip but greatest is he that takes the beating.
