  • Politics Is Like Hiring A Hitman
    by Scott Woods inPolitical on2020-08-13

For me, politics is like hiring a hitman. I have values and things I care about. I care enough about them to at least bother voting for 5 minutes every year for one issue or another. And because I care at least that much, I vote for people who align with the ability to realize the things I care about.

I believe our vote is the punctuation of our voice. Without that resounding exclamation mark, I believe our voices are just incoherent noise.

  • BLACK PROGRESS AMIDST SOCIAL CHAOS
by Roger Madison Jr. inPolitical on2020-06-16

Recent events have raised the profile of historical injustice and inequities here in the USA. The entire world has taken note of the fact that BLACK LIVES MATTER.   We invite all of our friends to engage in actions that result in the greatest movement for change in our history. It is imperative that we take advantage of this opportunity to affect a positive change by ACTING IN OUR SELF-INTERESTS.

  • Living in a Black No-Man's Land
by Roger Madison Jr. inOur Community on2019-10-28

There are many narratives that define the Black experience in America in this 2nd decade of the 21st century. Our striving over the centuries of our sojourn in this nation is a tapestry of every human experience -- oppression, enslavement, forced assimilation, dehumanization, exclusion, segregation, isolation, struggle, perseverance, achievement, excellence, celebration, mourning, despair, progress, setbacks, lynching, assassination, genocide, terror, self-hatred, low esteem, pride,...

  • Fighting Racism
by Scott Woods inOur Community on2018-10-25

I had a boss who was racist. Not an outright bigot, of course; her toolbox was more subtle than most. We bumped heads a lot over inconsequential things. She frequently couldn’t keep my name out her mouth. Lot of gaslighting. You know…2018 style. I tried a lot of ways to combat or navigate her issues. None of them worked, and that’s saying a lot because I’m really good at fighting racism. But at the end of the day – every day – she was my boss, I had to deal with her, and that was that. Finally I...

Why Has Romance Gone Out Of Style With Our Brothers?

At 52 years of age I think I have seen just about everything in the field of work that I do.

Having been a Corporate Exec  for 20 years and swithching over to the Broadcasting junreau...(TV  & Radio Talk Show Host, Actress and now Community Activist and Inspirational Speaker...the most urgent thing that  I notice in this era is:

THE CURRENT TREND IN "LOVE AND ROMANTIC  RELATIONSHIPS," WITH MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF COLOR.

Many Sisters are feeling desperate and feeling that they have to use their bodies as "bargaining" tools, just to hold onto a Brothher.

Brother's seem desperate to sleep with anything moving and are going the way of  dating White women to attain themselves to a higher stature of prominence with "other" Brothers and the White corporate world, as though White Women are trophy's.

I stopped dating a few years ago because I am a woman who:

Seeks a man of... intelligence, Godliness, marriaqe-mindedness, compassion, honesty, strength, faithfulness and loving a woman for who she is and NOT how " banging" her body is and how great her sexual attritbutes are.

What happened to opening car doors for us and pulling out our chair  at dinner? Or perhaps giving us a a single rose when you meet us at the door for a date?. Or a little stuffed animal to put on our bedroom dresser to remind her of how special her man is..

I am NOT only talking about Black Corporate Men...I am talking also talking  Black Men... from all walks of life, ages and occupations.

I have a friend who is a Doctor who married a Garbage Man...who treats her like a queen!

For those BROTHERS who are holding their  ladies down...

MAY GOD FOREVER BLESS YOU AND THANK YOU FOR STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE.

IF YOU HAVE SHARED OF THE ABOVE QUALITIES WITH YOUR LADIES, PLEASE REPLY TO MY COMMENT...TO GIVE ME THE FAITH, TO START DATING AGAIN.

I WOULD NEVER ASK FOR...WHAT I AM NOT MYSELF.

I HAD A JAMAICAN DAD AND A SOUTHERN MOM AND THEY RAISED ME RIGHT.

I ALSO HAVE GOD AND MY NIGHTLY PRAYER IS:

HEAVENLY FATHER...SEND ME THE MAN YOU CHOOSE, NOT THE ONE THAT I WOULD CHOOSE.

FOR ANY OTHER SISTERS THAT ARE IN MY PREDICAMENT...I WOULD LOVE FOR YOU TO WRITE ME AND GIVE ME A LITTLE LOVE.

GOD BLESS YOU ALLL AND MAY HE GRANT YOU ALL EVERY SECRET DESIRE OF YOUR HEARTS!
